University's New Brand Identity

During the State of the University address on Oct. 20 at the Wolf Pack Fieldhouse, the University revealed its new brand identity.

October 27, 2026

Dear Wolf Pack Family,

As we approach one of the busiest times on our campus, I wish to take a moment to express my gratitude for the work that has been done throughout this fall semester. I hope that with the collective dedication that has powered our University to new heights that you are also taking good care of yourself and those around you. The recent news regarding our University’s latest accomplishments is a testament to the excellence of our students, faculty and staff.

During the State of the University address on Oct. 20 before a record turnout of students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends from the community at the Wolf Pack Fieldhouse, the University revealed its new brand identity. We now enter a new era where we build the most impactful land-grant leader that Nevada has ever seen, as we elevate the University’s visibility, reputation and influence on a regional, national and global stage.

Although the announcement marked the conclusion of 18 months of comprehensive market research, listening sessions with key stakeholder groups both on and off campus, and the testing of logo design concepts and development of strategic brand messaging, there is much work still to be done.

Since the announcement, the University has shifted to implementing all aspects of our brand initiative, which will vary over time. It is not a one-day transition, rather a multi-year phased implementation across the institution. Implementing a brand of this scale across a large and complex institution takes time. Taking a phased approach allows us to be responsible stewards of the University's resources, and thoughtful and strategic in how we transition materials, signage, digital assets, facilities, and other branded elements. It will take us all some time to work through the logistics and incorporating updates for items on and off campus into normal replacement cycles whenever possible.

At its core, the “Nevada brand” is the University’s reputation and tells an unforgettable story about its values, ambitions and impact as Nevada’s leading flagship, public land-grant university. The new, unified, cohesive brand platform is designed to highlight what makes the University different and aids in consistently sharing that story. Together, the elements help bring the distinctive strengths, ambitious vision and transformative impact to life for audiences in Nevada and beyond.

In fact, our Strategic Plan, “Wolf Pack Rising,” through goals No. 1 (“Strengthen the Pack”) and No. 6 (“Expand the Wolf Pack Impact”), explicitly calls for the University to find new and engaging processes for us to share our story more widely with all of our various stakeholders and publics. In all aspects of our mission, we strive to ensure people find the path to success through resources and support. This was an underlying and driving factor in the work that was done.

To that end, we encourage you to take time to explore the University's new brand and familiarize yourself with the resources available to support its implementation. To help you get started, the following tools and resources are available to assist faculty and staff as we enter this new chapter.

  • Brand Guidelines are now available at unr.edu/brand. Moving forward, the website will provide brand guidance as we add and adapt to meet our needs.
  • The Branded Email Signature Tool has been updated with new University Standard Logo (or Tahoe version) and is ready for you to update as soon as you would like.
  • featuring our new logo have been created for download.
  • The Stationery Catalogue has been updated with new visual identity and logo options, as well as several ready-to-order promotional items. Within this catalogue you will find:
    • Business cards
    • Name tags
    • Letterhead
    • Envelopes
    • Notecards

Over the coming months, members of the campus community will continue to see the new brand come to life across a variety of platforms and touchpoints. The University Marketing and Communications team will provide brand resources and tools to the marketing and communications professionals across campus to support successful implementation, while also offering a series of brand training sessions. We recommend reaching out to your representative in your school, college or division for guidance, support and navigating the transition.

This brand initiative is far more than a marketing exercise. It provides a shared framework for how we tell the University’s story, and its success depends on every member of our community embracing and reinforcing that message. When we are united behind a common vision and narrative, we strengthen every aspect of the institution, from student recruitment and retention to research, community engagement, and philanthropic support.

As mentioned earlier, full implementation of the brand will take time. Given the University’s longstanding culture of partnership, collaboration, and shared commitment to advancing our mission, we are confident this process will further amplify our impact and reputation. It will also provide new opportunities for our campus community to share the remarkable work taking place here, highlighting both the breadth of our institutional achievements and the deeply personal stories of transformation that define the Nevada experience.

Thank you for all that you do on behalf of our University. We look forward to partnering with you throughout this exciting journey and to hearing your feedback as we continue bringing our shared story to life.

Go Pack!

Sincerely,

Brian Sandoval
