Nevada Day!
October 29, 2026
Dear Wolf Pack Family,
Happy Nevada Day, Wolf Pack! Tomorrow, we celebrate the 162nd anniversary of Nevada becoming the 36th state in our great nation, and the enduring connection between our state’s history and the University of Nevada.
Just 10 years after Nevada joined the Union, our University began its journey in Elko as Nevada’s land-grant higher education institution, founded on the belief that education opens doors to opportunity, strengthens communities and builds the future of our state. That belief remains the heart of our land-grant mission today. Over the years, the University of Nevada has evolved with our state, becoming a vital contributor to its progress and a leader in excellence.
Nevada Day invites us to reflect on that shared legacy, and on how we continue it today through teaching, research and outreach that improve lives across our state.
That enduring mission also guides our next chapter. As Nevada continues to grow and evolve, we are building on our University’s legacy with a renewed commitment to sharing our story and advancing our state’s promise.
Grounded in our service to Nevada, our new brand will connect our history with today’s accomplishments and the impact we aspire to make. By bringing that story to a wider audience, it will help us elevate the University’s visibility across the region, nation and world.
Nevada’s story is one of determination, ingenuity and possibility. Let us honor this shared legacy by continuing to open doors, elevate communities and shape a future worthy of our state’s promise.
Happy Nevada Day, and Go Pack!
Sincere regards,
Brian Sandoval
President
