Summary
Jon Griffiths is a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Political Science and a course coordinator for the Collegiate Academy. His research examines election administration and political behavior.
Griffiths’ work seeks to deepen our understanding of how policies and administrative decisions shape who has a voice in American democracy. In his dissertation research, he shows that policy changes that make voter registration more difficult produce long-term declines in political participation. In this other work, Griffiths explores how prominent voter registration reforms, such as the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 and state-level automatic voter registration, affect political participation and the accuracy of registration records. Lastly, he is interested in the human dimension of election administration. He examines how election administrators and poll workers make decisions and how those decisions shape voter behavior.
Griffiths joined the 91ԭƬ in 2026 after completing his Ph.D. in political science at the University of Pennsylvania. Before his Ph.D., he received a B.A. in political science from the George Washington University and an M.A. in social science from the University of Chicago.
