Collegiate Young Farmers and Ranchers, an integral part of the Nevada Farm Bureau, are engaged members of the agricultural industry and community dedicated in developing leadership skills and professional speaking abilities to involve and influence others in agricultural advocacy, promotion and education.

The purposes of this collegiate organization are to:

• Advocate for agriculture on campus, within the community, and with the Nevada Farm Bureau to educate consumers, develop leadership skills, and promote the policies, goals and purposes of the American Farm Bureau Federation.
• Bring together agricultural students on college campuses and engage them in educational activities that will enhance their future, while building awareness of the Farm Bureau organization.
• Offer opportunities for students in leadership development and citizenship engagement, enhancing career opportunities, community service and professional networking.

The community garden club seeks to enable our University’s students to participate in gardening and learn about agricultural science and local food systems. In partnership with the Desert Farming Initiative (DFI), we seek to establish a site/sites for student-led food cultivation and host events to promote student involvement in gardening and educate the campus community about agricultural sciences.

The Environmental Club is dedicated to cooperative action and outreach aimed at shaping the culture of our community according to the principles of sustainability and social justice.

Our club focuses on offering everyone the opportunity to experience all aspects of meat science. From microbiology to meat quality, we offer members many academic and professional development opportunities including (but not limited to): attendance to exclusive conferences in the industry, hands-on demonstrations and cooking competitions, and tours of meat industry facilities. This club is a unique opportunity for any students from any major to learn more about this fascinating field! The club is also a great way for students interested in agriculture science, animal agriculture, and veterinary sciences to gain more knowledge and insight about their field.

The primary mission of the 91ԭƬ Collegiate FFA Chapter is to develop and maintain fellowship between students in agriculture related studies and promote activities which develop leadership and citizenship abilities.

Collegiate FFA is a form of membership of the National FFA Organization. The National Collegiate FFA has been around since 1931 and has continued to be an influential part of agriculture education on the postsecondary and secondary level of education. Since college is considered higher education, our hope is that Collegiate FFA provides a higher level of opportunity for our collegiate membership. The Collegiate FFA has a very exciting future and a vision to take us there.

The Nevada Equestrian Team welcomes collegiate riders of all ages, majors, and equestrian backgrounds. Whether you're a reiner, western pleasure rider, or ranch rider, the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) offers opportunities for everyone! Our team was created to give college students a positive and supportive environment to ride, compete, and develop their horsemanship skills.

We have around 45 members and currently compete exclusively in the Western discipline. Practices are held weekly in Gardnerville under the guidance of our coach, Jordan Bader.

The Nevada Equestrian Team offers two membership options:

• Team Membership (Competing): For those interested in showing at IHSA competitions; requires greater time commitment for practices, team events, and travel.
• Club Membership (Non-Competing): For riders who wish to be involved socially, attend practices casually, and participate in team activities without competition obligations.

We compete in Zone 8, Region 1 of the IHSA, primarily traveling to shows in California. Long-term, our team aspires to join the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA).

America has a deep-rooted logging history that goes back to the 1600s, and the tradition is being carried on by members of the Nevada Loggers.

The Nevada Loggers provides students of all majors the opportunity to learn collegiate timber sports skills such as chopping, sawing, throwing and climbing, and then test their skills in several competitions.

We are a student organization whose members are largely interested in veterinary medicine as well as gaining admission into vet school. Club activities include guest speakers talking on pre-veterinary and veterinary related topics, tours of veterinary facilities, animal-related volunteer activities, informative field trips, and social club gatherings. Our purpose is "to provide an opportunity through which interested students may meet, explore, and gain knowledge of the field of veterinary medicine", and "develop closer ties of fellowship through a social atmosphere among students interested in veterinary medicine." To accomplish these goals, the Pre-Vet Club holds semi-weekly general meetings. These meetings include a brief period of club business and announcements, followed by a program relating to the practice of veterinary medicine, or admission to the College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition, there are organized social events and community service projects for members to participate in each quarter.

The 91ԭƬ Rodeo team is a group of highly motivated college students wanting to:

• Encourage the development of sportsmanship and humane treatment of livestock,
• Develop citizenship and leadership values and skills by encouraging active participation of student members and board members,
• Encourage prospective college students to join the team and become an active member and participate in competition opportunities related to the sport of rodeo, and
• Promote and develop public awareness, understanding, and appreciation for the sport of rodeo as well as its heritage, lifestyle and culture and to promote the sport of rodeo on a university and state scale.

We are the 91ԭƬ student chapter of the Society of American Foresters (SAF), a professional organization dedicated to education and scientific pursuit in the field of natural resources. As a student chapter, we help student members stay connected with the larger organization and provide a setting for networking and discussion with peers. Newcomers and graduates alike are always welcome to attend our meetings although we strongly encourage interested students to become official SAF members.

In addition to meetings and University events, the chapter participates in the national and regional SAF conferences and in an annual job fair.

The mission of The Student Nutrition Association (SNA) at the 91ԭƬ is to provide a framework for meaningful student involvement and to foster interest in the profession of nutrition, including nutritional science and dietetics. This organization strives to broaden the reach of nutrition education through nutrition-related activities and to provide credible nutrition information to the campus community and the Northern Nevada community. SNA will serve as a networking forum, offering guidance and support, and encouraging student engagement in the diverse areas of the field of nutrition.

While many members are majoring or minoring in nutrition, we have members of other degrees that also share a passion for food, nutrition and leading healthy lifestyles! We volunteer with local organizations, as well as promote overall wellness and nutrition on campus and throughout the community. Members will establish an affiliation with the Nevada Association of Nutrition and Dietetics (NVAND) and will have opportunities for service and volunteer experiences.

The UNR student chapter of The Wildlife Society is dedicated to students interested in wildlife biology and ecology. We meet bi-weekly and participate in many volunteer activities that not only look good on a resume, but are also fun!

UNR’s Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society began in the Fall of 2007. We are a student-run chapter of the national Wildlife Society and we welcome all students interested in wildlife, natural science, field biology, or the environment in general. Our club runs recreational field trips, professional development activities, educational workshops, and community and environmental service projects that appeal to a variety of student interests. We have fun while helping our community to care for it’s wildlife resources. Above all, we do what we can to give students experience so that they can be involved in the wildlife field and compete on a national level.
