Leadership opportunities
Guided by the Multicultural Center’s mission to empower students as innovative leaders, we offer programs that help students develop the skills and confidence to lead effectively. These opportunities support students in building a more integrated community at the University and beyond.
Empowered Leaders
The Empowered Leaders Program provides students with the opportunity to grow as leaders, build professional skills, and make a meaningful impact on campus. As paid student leaders, participants gain hands-on experience in developing programs, supporting campus initiatives, connecting with fellow students, and creating welcoming spaces within the campus community.
Through the program, students explore their leadership strengths, develop skills that prepare them for future careers, and gain valuable insight into the field of Student Services and higher education. Most importantly, Empowered Leaders are empowered to bring their ideas, experiences, and voices to the work they do.
Student Internship Program
Our Student Internship Program provides students with meaningful, hands-on opportunities to connect their academic learning with real-world experiences in higher education and student services. In partnership with academic programs across the university, we welcome interns from various colleges and schools including the School of Social Work, School of Public Health, and the College of Education & Human Development.
Interns are encouraged to bring their knowledge, interests, and professional goals into their work with our department. Students have developed programs aligned with their academic and career goals, facilitated meaningful conversations, supported families, and helped shape initiatives that respond to the needs of our campus community.
Whether an aspiring social worker is gaining experience facilitating group conversations or a future childcare provider is piloting family-centered programming, our internship opportunities allow students to explore their career interests while making a meaningful impact.
