Posting, distribution and exhibition of printed materials
Public view bulletin boards are designated spaces for posting printed materials related to University Events and approved activities. Posting is permitted only on approved boards and must comply with University guidelines. UAM 5,305
Printed material approval procedures
Bring your printed materials to the for approval before posting. Our staff will verify that the materials meet posting guidelines, photograph one copy for our records, and collect applicable fees.
Before submitting for approval, ensure the following:
- Printed materials may not exceed 17 inches x 24 inches.
- All printed materials must be written in English. You may include additional languages.
- Printed materials must include the name of the organization and a contact telephone number or email address.
- Academic course-related flyers must include the academic department name, course subject, and catalogue number.
- Recommended: Ensure your printed materials include a designated white space area at least 1.75 inches square so the approval stamp is clearly visible and the posting is not removed early.
After approval, you will stamp your printed materials in our office. Approved postings are valid for the calendar month and are removed on the first business day of each month. Stamps are dated for the current posting month only and cannot be applied in advance.
Recognized student organizations (excluding Fraternity & Sorority Life and graduate student groups) may also have printed materials stamped at the ASUN Student Activities Center in the Joe Crowley Student Union.
Posting procedures
You may post printed materials only on designated interior public view bulletin boards. Post one per board. Do not use staples.

Where posting is not permitted
Do not post, attach, or write on exterior structures or natural features, including buildings, doors, windows, walkways, fountains, posts, monuments, trees, rocks, shrubbery, statues, trash receptacles or the glass of three-sided ASUN kiosks.
Do not distribute printed materials on vehicles in campus parking lots or in classrooms.
Alcohol-related advertising
Do not use alcoholic beverages to promote an event. Printed materials may reference alcohol availability but may not target underage audiences or display alcoholic beverage signs, emblems, or insignias. UAM 5,313
Sandwich boards
Sandwich boards are temporary signs used on a limited basis to announce campus facilities or the time, date, location and sponsor of an event. They may not be used for general messages or programming.
Sandwich boards must follow these requirements:
- Boards may be displayed for up to two weeks when announcing campus facilities and up to three days when advertising an event.
- Use no more than two boards for the same facility or event.
- Boards may not exceed 2 × 4 feet and must be weighted.
Non-University printed materials
Non-University printed materials incur a $30 fee per calendar month. Payment may be made by exact cash, check payable to “NSHE Board of Regents," or credit card. A returned check will result in the loss of posting privileges for up to one year.
Include the following statement on all non-University printed materials:
"The contents of this document do not reflect an opinion or endorsement by the 91ԭƬ. This document is not printed or distributed at state expense."
Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in the loss of posting privileges for up to one year.
